About Kate
Kate Bero values wellness and believes movement is a critical component to feeling and being well. Her curiosity and fascination with the movement system grew while practicing and teaching yoga. She is particularly interested in the role the nervous system plays within the intersection of physical, mental, and emotional health.
Kate grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Austin upon completion of her undergraduate degree in 2007. She fell in love with this active city and is happy to call Austin home. She enjoys playing in nature with her husband, Colin, and their dog. When not at work you can find her at a park running or walking the trails, swimming, or on a stand-up paddle board on the Colorado River.
Education And Training
Kate earned her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and graduated with a comprehensive major in Latin American Studies. She is fluent in Spanish and has studied, lived, and traveled in Central and South America.
She began her career working at a non-profit with a mission to promote justice for the mobile poor. She worked closely with community health centers nationwide to ensure vulnerable populations had access to quality, affordable health care. In 2010, she completed a 300-hour yoga teacher training and has been teaching yoga ever since.
She received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas State University in 2018. While attending Texas State, she taught yoga, meditation, and fitness classes for the WellCats employee wellness program. She has four years of inpatient neuro experience working with patients with a wide range of neurological diagnoses.
She is excited to bring her neuro background to CHARM to help patients create an integrated plan of care to meet their goals.
PATIENT TESTIMONIAL
Physical therapy at CHARM far surpassed any thing I have had before. Michele understands the body and how to help it repair through using the Neurac and other exercises. She makes what she does seem simple and easy but it is very complex. Thank you for solving the puzzle of why my body was not working, and creating a plan I can use to keep me going. Michele is a miracle worker!
