Angel Young, PT

Physical Therapist

About Angel

Angel Young is a passionate professional with a focus on working with those suffering from chronic pain using a holistic approach grounded by the latest developments in pain research. Her interest is stemmed from her own battle with chronic pain and her experience as a dancer and yoga practitioner, which have affirmed to her the power of movement to heal the body and mind. She is a student of somatic therapy techniques, including Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis and Feldenkreis, which strongly inform her clinical practice. Angel approaches her work with patients with the goal of developing body awareness and rediscovering the pleasure of movement in order to move smarter not just stronger.

Angel volunteers as a movement facilitator with the Austin-based nonprofit Truth Be Told where she works with incarcerated women at the Lockhart Correctional Facility teaching them to tell and process their stories through the creative healing practice of Authentic Movement.
Prior to beginning her journey as a physical therapist, Angel lived and worked in London, Hong Kong, Santa Fe, and Houston for international finance firms, organic farms, and even a stint as an ice cream artisan, which allowed her to satiate her love of traveling and learning about other cultures.
Angel is a native Austinite. When she’s not busy keeping her newborn daughter Julia entertained, Angel continues to enjoy all varieties of dance (from ballet to hip hop to two-stepping), Pilates, yoga, and spending time outdoors with her Old English Sheepdog Rufus.

Education And Training

Angel received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas State University and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. At Texas State, she was recognized for her achievements in academic, research, and community service through the award of the Barb Melzer Scholarship.

Angel uses the Neufit and Redcord Neurac systems to help patients achieve their physical goals by harnessing the power of the nervous system to access strength and painfree movement. She is a Certified Neufit Practitioner and has completed Level 2 Neurac training. In addition, she has extensive experience in treating acute and chronic pain through the identification and repatterning of movement impairment syndromes combined with manual therapy.

It was a wonderful experience at CHARM! I liked that Angel treated my whole body as part of a system to stabilize my neck and back. She gave me so many tools I can use in my regular exercise routine going forward. I’ve had other PT before, but Angel left me feeling stronger and more knowledgeable about my body than ever before. I haven’t had pain since attending PT at CHARM
