Pain Relief Options: 2 Austin Doctors Discuss

Pain Relief and Regenerative Medicine

More and more people are seeking out non-surgical pain relief and injury repair treatment approaches.

Dr. David Harris was invited as a guest on the We Fix Pain Podcast with Dr. Dino Pappas. They discuss the field of regenerative and orthobiological medicine, the treatments utilized, treatment matching (how do we find the right treatment for the right patient at the right time), the past-present-future of orthobiologics, and his own experiences with these treatments.

Pain Relief This Way

A life is made up of days, years, and decades of use. During this time, your body undergoes wear, tear, and trauma that often lead to injury, joint degeneration, decreased mobility, and pain. This limits your ability to live life to the fullest or perform at your best. Together with Airrosti and other like minded practitioners, we work to unlock your body’s healing and performance potential. Our practices often collaborate on finding the most effective treatment plans for our patients.

Who/What is Airrosti?

AIRROSTI (AIR-ROSTI) is a healthcare group that provides rapid recovery treatment for soft tissue injuries.

Airrosti’s goal is to provide pain relief FAST (typically within 3-4 visits based on patient-reported outcomes) — with no needles, surgery, or invasive procedures. They help save patients time and money, while also dramatically reducing the need for costly and potentially dangerous prescription pain killers and opioids.

Whether you’ve been living with chronic and nagging pain for years or if you’ve recently experienced an acute injury, Airrosti providers are here to help find the root cause of your pain and offer treatment options for efficient, effective, and lasting relief.

Airrosti providers help diagnose and treat most common musculoskeletal and joint conditions, including pain in the neck, back, shoulders, hips, elbows, knees, and feet. Their treatment has shown to be effective at helping resolve everything from headaches to plantar fasciitis. They have shown to be effective at resolving chronic back pain as they are at resolving acute sports/athletic injuries like pulls and strains, as well as repetitive stress/wear and tear injuries like tendonitis, frozen shoulder, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Musculoskeletal Pain Areas

We know you may have questions about whether or not Airrosti can help you, especially if you’ve been suffering with chronic pain or an unresolved injury for years or feel you’ve exhausted all your treatment options. That’s why their primary goal for your first visit is to thoroughly assess and evaluate your condition, identify the root source of your pain, and determine if Airrosti treatment is right for you. They will walk you through a detailed explanation of your diagnosis and help you understand all your care options, so you can make an informed decision. If they are unable to resolve your condition, they’ll refer you to an appropriate specialist such as CHARM.

What Can CHARM Do For Pain Relief?

In August 2011, Dr. David Harris and his wife, Michele Zink Harris,PT co-founded CHARM in order to meet the community’s need for a comprehensive center with a focus in the area of Regenerative Medicine. The mission at the Center for Healing and Regenerative Medicine is to provide comprehensive, integrated, and progressive non-surgical therapeutic solutions to promote tissue repair, resolve pain, and restore function in those with musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions involving the spine and joints. Often, CHARM patients avoid unnecessary surgery allowing them minimal downtime from activities of daily living, work, exercise, and sports.

In addition to clinical expertise and specialization since 1996 with prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and progressive bone marrow therapies, CHARM offers an integrated laboratory, a full compliment of interventional spine and pain management procedures, electrodiagnostics, two fluoroscopy suites and mobile ultrasound to provide guidance of our advanced injection techniques.

Regenerative Medicine With Fluoroscopy

The Physical Therapy department incorporates the largest Redcord / Neurac closed chain suspension therapy clinic in Texas, Microcurrent Point Stimulation, manual and Motion Release techniques, Class IV Laser, prescriptive ALINE insoles, comprehensive education, and individualized exercise programming for long‑term, effective self‑management and sports performance.

Neurac Resistance Training

The procedures and therapies at CHARM address resolution of pain and restoration of full function to any area of the musculoskeletal system. Age ranges of patients at CHARM are from 7 years to 102 years old. We treat the individual who would like to walk to and from the mailbox without debilitating pain to the elite athlete with the goal of perfecting their game.

Being a patient at CHARM is a unique experience. Every individual patient is treated exactly as that – an individual. No two treatment plans are identical, as our practitioners treat you holistically, not as a knee or a spine. Our goal is to reduce or eliminate your pain, improve your mobility and function, and maximize your health, healing, and performance. CHARM practitioners will often refer patients to Airrosti and other practitioners to coordinate and provide the optimal care for our patients.

The Non-Surgical Approach to Pain Relief

Airrosti’s conservative approach to care is highly effective and efficient at resolving most muscle and joint injuries. Their in-clinic or virtual/telehealth treatment consists of:

  • Ample 1-on-1 patient care
  • Thorough injury assessment and diagnosis
  • Targeted, provider-guided treatment
  • Individually prescribed recovery plan
  • Continued clinical support

Airrosti providers help patients recover quickly while avoiding injury recurrence. Based on extensive patient-reported outcomes, it only takes around 3-4 treatment sessions to resolve their pain, and the patient can remain active during treatment.

They focus on getting you out of pain fast — and keeping you out of pain long term. They help patients avoid lengthy treatment and recovery plans, as well as ongoing pain management plans.

CHARM works in conjunction with Airrosti treatments to provide non-surgical solutions to relieve pain using the power of your own platelets and stem cells to repair injury and to get you back to doing what you love. Regenerative medicine techniques using your body’s own stem cells and platelet rich plasma can be a safe, effective, and non-surgical option to treating joint and musculoskeletal issues and providing pain relief.

When your body needs a kickstart to heal an injury, CHARM practitioners use injection techniques using your own growth factors from your platelets and your stem cells that are minimally invasive, highly effective, and well tolerated, encouraging the body to heal precisely where it has been injured. In the last 20 years, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has become a common treatment for injured athletes. The growth factors from your platelets taken from your own blood promote normal, healthy tissue healing. Platelets are collected using a standard blood draw, separated through a special lab process, and injected directly where the Regenerative Medicine specialist determines that healing is needed.

Prp Is A Safe Alternative For Pain Treatment

Stem cells from your bone marrow are collected with minimal discomfort using a small needle in about 10 minutes. These provide a living “factory” of growth factors, delivered directly at the site of injury, and lasting even longer than the platelets alone. Frequently, PRP and Stem Cells are used together to create a comprehensive solution of growth factors to stimulate the healing response.
