Reversing the SUNday FUNday Damage

The longer days of summer give us a chance to enjoy more time on the lake, taking longer hikes and spending more time by the pool with family and friends. It also makes the possibilities of sun damaged skin more of a reality.

Improving our skin’s appearance and health has never been easier, more affordable or easily obtainable until now. Laser treatments can address multiple issues in just one treatment or a series spread out over several months.

The ICON laser by Cynosure is a leading device in the med spa world, introducing the same benefits as other lasers but with less discomfort and downtime. ICON laser can help with the following skin concerns:

*diminishing small facial veins

*photodamage & pigmentation

*reducing lines & wrinkles

*diminishing surgical & acne scars

*improving skin tone & texture

*resurfacing dull skin

*melasma pigmentation

*semi-permanent laser hair removal

Three4Me procedure is a combination of IPL and laser renewal treatment. This is a great option for patients wishing to improve lines & wrinkles, uneven skin texture, sun damage and broken capillaries with very minimal downtime. While patients will see improvement after one treatment a series is suggested for optimal results.

1540 non-ablative fractional laser uses microscopic beams of heat to stimulate cells to thicken the underlying collagen resulting in improved skin tone, texture and elasticity. It does not remove a layer of skin, making it safe to apply SPF and makeup immediately afterwards. Common treatments for this device are on surgical and acne scars, stretch marks and fine lines & wrinkles

IPL photofacial light is soaked up by the hemoglobin (red blood cells) and melanin (pigmentation) in the skin, intentionally damaging these areas. The damaged melanin breaks up and is absorbed by the skin, decreasing its appearance on the skin’s surface. The damaged hemoglobin stimulates blood flow, causing the melanin to be absorbed more efficiently.

ICON laser hair removal technology uses the pigment of the hair shaft for its target to reduce the size, color and eventually life of the hair follicle. The number of treatments needed for best result is different for everyone, so a consult is needed with a professional to determine. For those with white, gray or blonde hairs, there is hope! The The Yag targets the blood vessels that feed the hair it nutrients to grow which eventually cauterize the vessel and cause the hair follicle to die.

All of these treatments are possible all year long but it is best to stay out of the sun during your sessions.  A gradual tan can complicate the setting on the laser, potentially burning the area being treated. SPF is always a must and reapplying is the rule with any laser post procedure regimen. As always… follow the instructions given by your med spa services provider.   Stay safe and stay beautiful!
